Fairview Town Council held its regular meeting on September 2, 2025, with updates on key community projects, public services, and strategic planning. Here are the highlights:
RCMP Quarterly Update
Cst. Popic presented the RCMP’s quarterly report, noting that overall crime statistics have decreased. The Fairview detachment is also preparing to welcome a new Sergeant in the near future. Residents are reminded to report any concerns or suspicious activity directly to the RCMP.
Fire Department Update
The Fairview Volunteer Fire Department will soon receive its long-awaited Rescue Truck, a project that has been two years in development.
Aquatic Centre Shutdown
The Fairview Regional Aquatic Centre will undergo its planned shutdown from October 20–31 for maintenance. A shorter closure will follow later this year for HVAC system replacement, with those dates to be announced.
Strategic Plan Adopted
Council officially adopted a new three-year strategic plan that outlines key priorities and goals for the Town. The plan will be available on the Town’s website.
Intermunicipal Agreements
Council approved a new Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) agreement with the MD of Fairview No. 136, ensuring continued cooperation on shared services. Additionally, a new agreement was reached regarding cemetery operations, also in partnership with the MD.
Pleasant Valley Senior Manor Expansion
Council gave the green light for Phase 2 of the Pleasant Valley Senior Manor project, which will add 18 new units. The owners were granted the same tax incentive provided in Phase 1, along with temporary use of a section of 102 Avenue for construction staging.
