The High Prairie School Division has appointed Workun Garrick as the lead architect for the modernization of Georges P. Vanier School in Donnelly, Alberta.

This selection followed a competitive procurement process by the Government of Alberta.

The project was fast-tracked to the design stage under the School Construction Accelerator Program, as announced by Education and Childcare Minister Demetrios Nicolaides on May 21, 2025.

Workun Garrick partner Robert Rabinovitch, with over 30 years of architectural experience, will lead the project.

A kick-off meeting with Superintendent Murray Marran took place in November.

Marran highlighted the firm’s experience in Northern Alberta, citing projects like the Grande Prairie Composite High School and the Grimshaw Shared School Facility.

The next steps involve a 2-3 month schematic design phase, incorporating community feedback to create a space that reflects local priorities and provides an exceptional learning environment.

Vice Chair Karin Scholl and Trustee Lynn Skrepnek emphasized the project’s significance for the community and expressed gratitude to MLA Todd Loewen for his support.

Board Chair Joy McGregor echoed these sentiments, looking forward to sharing the architects’ designs with the public.
