A new natural gas power plant is being proposed northeast of Peace River.
Cree Ative Datacenter Corp GP plans a 650-megawatt facility about 40 kilometres from town to supply power for a new data centre.
The project would be built in two stages, starting with simple-cycle turbines and later converting to combined-cycle technology, and is expected to operate for 30 years.
The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada is inviting public and feedback on the proposal.
Comments can be submitted online through the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry until January 22.
