Zootopia 2 hit theatres 9 years after the original came out and it was certainly worth the wait. The sequel take place shortly after the original and see the issues and differences between Judy and Nick as they try to solve a new case and conspiracy. With a number of the voice cast and characters returning it introduces some new ones like Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, and Danny Trejo.
Zootopia 2 thrives in it’s comedy and continues the stories of all those involved. It also will contain many references the kids won’t understand or get but the adults taking the kids will. I mean whoever thought in a million years a Disney film like Zootopia would reference The Shinning and a festival like Burning Man, or Burning Mammal as it is called in the film.
Zootopia double downs on the ideas of the first while tackling new themes especially in the friendship or partnership of Nick and Judy.
This is a movie that I have right up there first, but personally just falls short of surpassing it. I found myself wishing to see more of the lovable characters from the first passed them making small brief cameos. Regardless the kids, teens, adults and yes even seniors that go to watch it will enjoy this film.
PS there is a small post credit scene at the end.
